About our performances
Imagine the sultry undulations and exciting hip shimmies of Middle Eastern dance, coupled with the elegant shapes and breathtaking spins of Indian dance, then infused with the brimming passion of Flamenco - and you have this style. For more on the history of the dance style visit here.
Our costuming and jewellery pieces are entirely based on the colour palette of spices and treasures of the Silk Road - today seen in places like the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Props used in our dance set include finger zils, swords and veil, and performances vary from slow to fast, with group and solo work. We have performed with musicians playing traditional instruments from the Middle East, as well as more contemporary and fusion music. Silk Road Rebellion is available to perform at multicultural, food and wine, and music festivals, charity and corporate events, store openings, art exhibitions and markets throughout Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
